Published 5 November 2026. Nine Jaipur monuments will close to visitors at 5 PM from 7 to 9 November 2026. Among them are Amer Fort, Hawa Mahal, Jantar Mantar and Nahargarh Fort. Dr Pankaj Dharendra, director of Rajasthan's Archaeology and Museums Department, issued the order. Fewer tourists are expected on Diwali and Govardhan Puja, ETV Bharat reported on 4 November.

Which Jaipur monuments close at 5 PM from 7 to 9 November?

The order covers nine sites run by the Archaeology and Museums Department. Dainik Navajyoti carried the same list on 4 November 2026. After 5 PM on these three days, visitors will not be allowed in.

The nine are Amer Fort (Amer Mahal), the Government Central Museum at Albert Hall, Hawa Mahal and Jantar Mantar. Nahargarh Fort, Isarlat, Sisodia Rani Ka Bagh, Vidyadhar Ka Bagh and Gandhi Vatika complete the list. This order applies only from 7 to 9 November. Neither report gave the regular closing time for each site.

Why did the department change the timings?

The department expects fewer tourists on Diwali and Govardhan Puja, according to both reports. ETV Bharat said the change will also be shown on the e-ticketing system and the department's website. It added that extra home guards have been posted and CCTV watch has been increased at museums and monuments, since the tourist season has started.

How should visitors plan these three days?

Reach any of the nine sites well before 5 PM, because the cut-off is for entry. Amer Fort is about 11 km from the city, Wikipedia notes, so start there in the morning.

Jantar Mantar, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stands near City Palace and Hawa Mahal, so the three can share one walking afternoon. Govind Dev Ji Temple is not on the list and has its own Diwali schedule, explained in our Govind Dev Ji Diwali darshan timings.

What should visitors who reach Jaipur after 5 PM do?

Visitors arriving in the evening on 7, 8 or 9 November will find these nine sites already closed for the day. Plan them for the next morning instead. This cut-off lasts three days, so regular hours apply again from 10 November, though neither report gave those hours.

The order does not cover temples or markets. On Diwali, Govind Dev Ji Temple runs its own darshan schedule until 8:15 PM. Check the department's e-ticketing page before you buy a ticket, since ETV Bharat said the change would be posted there.
